Job Description

Mwala Water and Sanitation Company (MWASCO) Limited is a registered Water Service Provider, contracted by Tanathi Water Services Board according to the water Act 2002 to provide efficient, reliable and economical water and sewerage services in Mwala District, Machakos County.

To strength our team of staff, the Board of Directors hereby seeks to fill the positions
1. Accountant
Reporting to the MD, the accountant will have the overall responsibility of managing the fiscal undertakings of the Company to ensure that it meets stakeholders’ needs.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Developing and reviewing financial and accounting policies and procedures of the Company;
  • Ensuring compliance with finance and accounting standards and regulations.
  • Coordinating preparation of budgets and ensuring implementation and controls as per approved levels.
  • Ensuring timely preparation and presentation of financial reports to the Board of Directors as per approved policy.
  • Planning, coordinating and controlling of financial resources and accounting procedures;
  • Attending to queries raised in the audit reports;
  • Ensuring that policies of fixed assets are followed and reconciliation report prepared as and when required;
  • Develop and maintain systems to ensure proper data capture, analyze and report financial performance.
  • Produce financial reports to monitor the performance of the company, including cash flow forecast, financial statements, donor and annual reports.
  • Monitor fiscal budgetary variance and advise budget-holders on budgetary controls.
  • Ensure effective collection of revenue and reconcile creditors’ accounts.
  • Process payments and reconcile suppliers’ accounts.
  • Ensure bank reconciliation’s of MWASCO accounts.
  • Administer the payroll.
  • Prepare monthly statutory payments including PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, Provident Fund etc.
  • Any other related duties allocated by the Managing Director

Qualifications

  • A Diploma / Degree in any course from a recognized Institution and/or a minimum of CPA I
  • Must have at least two years of working experience preferably in water sector
  • Be of unquestionable reputation.
  • Should have a record of proven performance, be self-driven, result oriented and possess excellent public relations and customer oriented
  • Must be computer literate with excellent hands on skills in excel spreadsheets
  • Minimum Age is 25 years

2. Technical Services Manager (TSM)

Reporting to the Managing Director, the TSM will ensure that all the technical resources of the Company are managed well

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Managing the Company’s technical operations and ensuring good operation and maintenance of infrastructure for quality water and sanitation services
  • Ensuring that water is treated and that the quality meets WHO Standards
  • Ensuring that the Unaccounted for Water (UFW)/Non-Revenue Water (NRW) is reduced to acceptable levels or better still eliminated altogether.
  • Ensuring proper management of the technical assets
  • Developing departmental strategies, targets, policies, procedures and plans to facilitate achievement of overall Company’s objectives
  • Taking responsibility for the training, development and motivation of the departmental staff
  • Ensuring that the needs of the customers are effectively met
  • Any other related duties allocated by the Managing Director
  • Minimum Age 25 years

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Water, Civil or Irrigation Engineering from a reputable Institution. Those registered with professional bodies will have an added advantage.
  • At least two (2) years relevant post qualification working experience preferably in water sector.
  • Have demonstrated ability to manage water and sanitation utilities with sound innovations
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative
  • Good report writing and communication skills and a team player
  • Conversant with the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005 and the Public Procurement and Disposal Regulations of 2006.
  • Must be computer literate. AutoCAD knowledge will be an added advantage
