CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

AutoXpress is Kenya’s leading supplier of tyres, wheels, batteries, suspension parts, and alignment and balancing services with an existing countrywide network of 23 branches. We represent world-class brands extending superior service to our customers with an identifiable difference. As we expand our network, we are looking to recruit a dynamic Chief Accountant-Kenya. Details of the position are outlined below.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Group CFO, the person will oversee the finance function of the Company to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and function; maintaining financial records, preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, assist in the formulation and in overall preparation of budgets and forecasts, dealing with all compliance matters relating to tax and other statutory matters and providing supervision, guidance and mentoring a team of 7 people.

This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.

THE MAIN DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE CONSIST OF:

a) Responsible for day to day operations of the finance department

b) Preparation of monthly management and divisional financial reports and ancillary supporting information to a strict timetable

c) Preparation of annual budgets and updated forecasts with cash flow projections

d) Liaison with budget holders for budget and forecast preparation, cost control and monitoring

e) Managing credit control function

f) Maintaining relationships with bankers

g) Responsible for maintaining the fixed asset register and controls over Company’s assets

h) Responsible for payroll function

i) Responsible for preparing year-end financial statements in accordance with IFRS requirements

j) Responsible for all statutory matters relating to tax and other compliance matters falling under the Finance Function, including tax matters and dealing with all queries

k) Liaise with external and internal auditors on all audits related matters

l) Complete statistical returns for government agencies

m) Responsible for continuous review and improvements of the department functions to be in line with the company policies, ISO requirements and best practice

n) Liaise with and answer queries raised by group finance

o) Perform ad-hoc assignments as required;

p) Review the internal controls and existing procedures and develop and implement various policies and procedures in line with best practices

q) Assist the Group CFO in monitoring and reviewing financial and accounting activities of other related companies and generating group reports for presentation to the board

r) Responsible for supervising, mentoring and motivating staff in the finance department

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

a) ACCA/CPA (K) qualification (and ideally with a Bachelor’s Degree)

b) Minimum of 6 years relevant experience of which at least 3 years should have been in a managerial or senior role in a commercial organisation

c) Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office

d) Working knowledge of Kenyan tax

e) Working knowledge of ERP (preferably SAP B1) will be an added advantage

f) Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills

g) Must be a Kenya Citizen
