M-KOPA is looking for a qualified and skilled individual to work as the Business Development Manager. The purpose of this role is to manage the process of developing new funding opportunities (primarily grants) for M-KOPA Labs.
M-KOPA Labs is a research and development business unit within M-KOPA that
is responsible for testing and developing innovative products that will meet customer’s future needs and market conditions.
Working closely with the Director of Labs the Business Development Manager will take a leading role in:
•Building relationships with key fund providers in strategic sectors to Labs including energy, ICT, access to finance and climate change
•Identifying funding opportunities and maintaining a funding pipeline
•Engaging with potential fund providers to develop funding opportunities
•Preparing funding proposals/submissions in line with the requirements of funding organisations
•Identifying/recruiting candidate staff and consultants to work on funded Labs projects
EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
This role will be ideally suited to a candidate that has experience within a business development / grant proposal team who is now looking to take on greater responsibility. The experience and competencies required include the following.
•3-5 years’ experience engaging successfully with grant giving/donor organisations in the international development and or technology sectors.
•3-5 years’ experience in the preparation of successful grant applications/proposals, candidate/project staff identification/recruitment.
•Strong team and project management skills,being able to manage grant application processes to tight deadlines and high standards of quality.
•Strong leadership,coaching, communication, and facilitation skills.
•Effective listening and communication skills.
•Good computer skills with strong experience using Microsoft Office suite.
•English fluency both written and spoken.
