This team is constantly working to extend our service capability and product range, consolidating our operations in established markets while expanding and extending in emerging markets. We divide our core capabilities into three product groups – Investor Services, Transactional Banking and International Trade Services.
Play a key role in articulating and the long-term business strategy for TPS within the region
Construct the necessary organisation linkages, and build out the processes, tools and methodologies to facilitate the roll out and implementation of the TPS strategy into the region
Ensure that business performance measures are identified, measured and reported in support of the overall strategy.
Coordinate the planning of the annual operational budgets together with Finance. Provide a high level insight to Finance on the operational priorities of the business area
Engage with data teams to obtain business intelligence and management information that would be needed for the business area. Ensure that the reports are prepared at the required frequency and distributed to decision makers.
Lead and participate in TPS strategic projects.
Manage components of the day-to-day management responsibilities of the Regional Head: TPS
Ensure compliance with audit, control and financial reporting standards as they relate to TPS.

Strategy Formulation & Execution
Develop the strategic agenda in conjunction with the regional TPS Africa Management team
Coordinate the annual business planning process in conjunction with the Management team responsible for facilitating the roll out of the TPS strategy into and across regional countries.
Work with Country Heads in aligning country TPS objectives to the broader TPS strategy.
Facilitate strategy roll out sessions across countries to ensure that the appropriate business performance measures are defined.
Develop the necessary organisation linkages, relationships and methodologies in order to drive the positioning and implementation of new and ongoing strategic initiatives and objectives.
Work with regional TPS Management team to agree and implement a ‘People Strategy’.
Financial Performance Management
Manage financial performance in partnership with Finance.
Manage the periodic budgeting and forecasting processes in conjunction with Country Heads and regional TPS Africa Management team
Analyse financials, MIS, incoming documentation (as required) and highlight key matters/issues/requirements to the Head of TPS in country and other key stakeholders.
In conjunction with the regional TPS Management team, design and implement the end-to-end business performance management process.
Set the overall standards for business performance management across the business, including measurement and reporting protocol, templates, and frequency.
Produce the performance level analysis needed to conduct monthly performance reviews with the countries.
Interface with other functions in the bank to enable business performance management.
Analyse performance reports across the business to identify trends, opportunities, concerns and report these to key stakeholders in a consolidated format as required.
Promote a performance-driven culture within the Regions.
Periodically track country business performance against plans, and provide guidance and propose measures to address risks and challenges.
Coordinate and oversee the TPS business in the countries to promote standardisation, consistency and provide guidance where required.
Work closely with the regional TPS Head and the Management team to define end-state model that provides for TPS coverage in the region.
Participate in or lead projects on behalf of or involving TPS Africa, as mandated by the Head of TPS Africa.
Motivate and work closely with the Country Heads in building team-oriented, inspirational goals that are aligned with the objectives of the TPS business in the region.
Engage in leading-edge industry developments and continuously migrate best practices within the countries in the region and Standard Bank Group.
Ensure that countries within the Region are in compliance with audit, control and financial reporting standards as they relate to TPS.
Manage staff to ensure that targets, work and quality standards are set, achieved and maintained.
Identify individual strengths and development areas, and ensure that staff receives the requisite learning and development interventions.
Qualifications For Chief Operating Officer Jobs In Kenya
Post graduate Bachelor’s degree – specialisation in Finance and/or Business Management
3 – 7 years’ relevant experience (in banking sales, managing trade, supply chain and cash management products available globally; experience in banking sales, customers and competitors within the local market).
Previously held senior position within a Transactional Product and Services team is an advantage
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership and people management role.
Experience working with Core Banking projects showing an in-depth understanding of the potential impact on related functions (such as reporting and operational processes) in the bank would be advantageous.
