Clerical Officer Job – Office of the Auditor-General (14 Posts)


The Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) is an independent Office established under Article 229 of the Constitution of Kenya. The Office is charged with the primary oversight role of ensuring accountability in the use of public resources within the three arms of government (the Legislature, the Judiciary and the Executive) as well as the Constitutional Commissions, Independent Office and any entity that is funded from public funds.
Pursuant to Article 252 (1) (c) of the Constitution, the Office seeks to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill the following positions:-

Clerical Officer – Grade OAG 10 (14 Posts)

Purpose of the job:

  • This position is responsible for the implementation of storage systems and retrieval of information for Office of the Auditor General.
    Officers at this level may also be deployed to perform general and specialised clerical work in various departments such as Human Resource, Finance, Supply Chain Management, ICT, Administration etc.

Clerical Officer Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately record, file and distribute all inward and outward correspondence to ensure timely delivery of information and correspondences.
  • Accurately store, arrange, index and classify records to ensure smooth running of the office / Department.
  • Assist in the development of filing systems and maintain both electronic and paper-based files in the institution to ensure timely retrieval and data integrity.
  • Assist in the setting up, maintenance, review and documentation of records systems aimed at increasing efficiency in the institution.
  • Assist in the training of internal users on records management systems and processes.
  • Assist staff with requests to locate and retrieve documents that had been archived.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by management.

Requirements for Clerical Officer Job

  • Kenya Certificate in Secondary Education or its recognized equivalent qualification.
  • A Certificate or Diploma in any of the following: Records / Information Management, Information / Library Science, Human Resource
  • Management , Business Management, Accounting, Supply Chain Management or any other relevant and related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Computer Applications is mandatory.
  • Past work experience will be an added advantage.
