Overall Purpose:
The Marketplace Communications and Community of Practice (CoP) Manager will support the implementation of the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods in Rwanda. The position is a consultant position limited to one year, but with the potential to be extended to 3 years and to be transformed into a staff position based on performance and available funding.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Prepare and run the community of practice meetings, trainings and events
• Identify suitable members from business and supporting institutions like government, donors, academia, etc. and invite them to the community of practice in collaboration with the Manager of the Marketplace for Nutritious foods
• Support the Community of Practice (CoP) Members and regularly provide them with relevant information and updates
• Regularly get the input from CoP members regarding their training/ experience sharing ideas and needs and integrate these into the CoP program where relevant, make continuous improvements
• Design training programs in collaboration with the Manager for the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods
• Engage relevant, high caliber speakers and relevant experts for training
• Set up and manage training/ speaking events, etc. with the support of the project assistant
• Actively exchange knowledge and experience with the other communications/ CoP Managers in the other Marketplace countries
• Actively contribute to knowledge management in the Rwanda team as well as the whole of GAIN
• Document activities performed in accordance with GAIN and Donor reporting

Design, manage and run the communications of the Rwanda Marketplace
• Identify, design and package relevant pieces of information for the members of the community of practice and the other stakeholders of the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods incl. GAIN, USAID, etc.
• Manage and update the communication platforms of the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods: Facebook page, twitter account, SMS platform, etc., actively work on increasing the number of followers/ members, etc.
• Design and oversee GAIN/Marketplace presence in local events, such as agribusiness fairs and trade shows.
• Contribute with stories to the global GAIN homepage/ other publications where relevant in collaboration with the GAIN communications team
• Achieve outreach for GAIN and the Marketplace by providing information, stories, press releases, etc. to the local press in Rwanda where relevant in consultation with the Manager for the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods
• In collaboration with the GAIN communications team, design communication materials (brochures, flyers, banners, etc )
• Compile photographs of CoP events and Innovation Accelerator candidates/grantees, and project activities
• Oversee communications of Innovation Accelerator, where applicable. For example: Announcement of call for proposals, communications with candidates, etc.
• Track and document Community of Practice and Communications activities in accordance with GAIN and donor reporting.

Job Requirements
Competences (Skills and Attributes)
• Excellent skills in communication/ media management, public relations
• Excellent ability to work with social media
• Good network with relevant media, press, business and government representatives, as well as graphic designers, photographers, printers, etc.
• Excellent networking skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills in an environment requiring diplomacy and good judgment in managing interactions with individuals at all levels inside and outside an organization
• Proactive with a commitment to quality and accuracy with close attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• High flexibility and occasional availability to work outside regular working hours
• Able to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure with frequent deadlines
• Ability to work without close supervision
• Computer literacy with excellent MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills
• Graphic design would be a plus
• Photography skills a plus
• Fluency in spoken and written Kinyarwanda and English is required
• Language skills in French are desirable
• Ability to travel
• Ability to work legally in Rwanda

Experience:
• 3-5 years of work experience as communications/ public relations/ media manager
• Experience in working in social media
• Experience in working with different stakeholders from business, government, donors, etc.
• Experience in working in an international environment is a plus
Education:
• Degree or diploma in communications/ public relations/ social science or related fields, or equivalent work experience
• Courses in graphic design are a plus
Other Requirements
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally in country

The Marketplace Project Assistant will support the team in the implementation of the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods in Rwanda. The position is a consultant position limited to one year, but with the potential to be extended to 3 years and to be transformed into a staff position based on performance and available funding.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Carry out general administration tasks in and around the office including management of office supplies, correspondence, organization of maintenance and repairs, dealing with suppliers, travel management etc.
• Set up and manage meetings with collaboration partners, businesses, government, etc.
• Set up and manage contact databases
• Support the preparation and running of community of practice meetings, trainings and events
• Support the preparation and running of calls for proposals to support businesses providing nutritious foods to poor consumers
• Support the development and management of contracts and granting agreements and manage the approval processes within the organization
• Support the reporting to GAIN and to USAID
• Support the accounting and finance management of the office
• Manage filing system of grantees, calls for proposals, technical advisory committee, site visits, consultancy proposals and contracts, community of practice activities, etc.Liaise with GAIN colleagues to ensure all financial activities are performed within GAIN procurement guidelines
• Assist with documentation and data entry of project activities in accordance GAIN and Donor monitoring/reporting requirements
