Cytonn Investments Job Vacancy : Clerk of Works Internships


Cytonn Investments is an independent investment management firm, with offices in Nairobi Kenya and D.C. Metro U.S. We are primarily focused on offering alternative investment solutions to global institutional investors, individual high networth investors, local institutional investors and diaspora investors interested in the EastAfrican region. We currently have over Kshs. 74 billion of investments and projects under mandate, mainly in real estate.

The Clerk of work interns will work to ensure the interests of Cytonn Real Estate are represented with regards to ensuring that the quality of both materials and workmanship are in accordance with the design information such as specification and engineering drawings, in addition to recognized quality standards

Responsibilities for the Clerk of Works Internship

  • Monitor and inspect work of the construction contractor for assigned projects on behalf of the Cytonn Real Estate
  • Act as liaison between architect and contractor
  • Conduct onsite observation and spotchecks of work in progress
  • Ensure contract compliance by the contractor, such as conducting tests specified in the contract and installing materials/equipment as specified in the contract, and report deficiencies to Clerk of Works, Project Manager, Architect, and Contractor
  • To carry out inspection of the workmanship and practices of contractors and/or crews engaged in construction
  • Provide reports on all onsite matters, including thirdparty inspections, progress, safety concerns, and causes for delay
  • Maintain jobsite files, documents, reports, and daily log; prepare periodic reports for Project Manager and Architect as required
  • Attend all jobsite meetings as a Cytonn Real Estate representative or in conjunction with Project Manager
  • Receive, record, present for architect approval, and maintain custody of samples submitted by construction contract
  • Review requests for progress payments submitted by construction contractor and forward with recommendations to Architect
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Requirements for the Clerk of Works Internship

  • A grade of C+ and above in KCSE (or equivalent) with good grades in math and languages
  • Diploma in Construction Management and above or any other relevant qualification.
  • The ability to pay attention to detail
