Qualifications for the Dental Specialist Job

For appointment to the grade, a candidate must have:-

  • Served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Dental Specialist II,
    Job Group ‘P’;
  • A Bachelors degree in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry or equivalent qualification
    from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • A Masters degree in Medicine, Surgery, Dentistry or equivalent qualification from a
    university recognized in Kenya;
    been registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
  • A valid current practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and
    Dentists Board;
  • Attended a Strategic Leadership course in a recognized institution; and
    demonstrated administrative capabilities and professional competence in work
    performance

Duties and Responsibilities of the Dental Specialist

An officer at this level will be responsible to the Chief Dental Specialist. Specific duties
and responsibilities include;-

  • Implementing specific projects and programmes relating to dental health care
    services;
  • Providing dental health care services;
  • Coordinating epidemiological surveillance on diseases; and
  • Providing professional guidance and training to dentists and other health care personnel
