Disability Services Officer Job Vacancies at NCPWD, Kenya

An officer at this level will work closely with a more experienced officer.

Disability Officer Job Duties and responsibilities in Kenya

  • Educating PWDs and other stakeholders in the County about economic development, health, gender issues, social rights, roles and obligations.
  • Conducting literacy programmes and income generating activities.
  • Providing support in Planning and coordinating events and projects in the County
  • Collecting and compiling data for analysis on enterprise development, scholarships, assistive devices, PWSD-CT programme to persons with disabilities organizations and other stakeholders
  • Liaising with hospitals to provide support for Persons with Albinism
  • Identifying community issues, needs and problems for PWDs;
  • Prepare reports on a regular basis on the operations and progress status of compliance activities;
  • Identify and develop cases for prosecution;
  • Issuing registration numbers to persons with disabilities on employment and in business for income tax exemption;
  • Counseling persons with disabilities, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes;
  • Communicating results of the fund applications to fund applicants;
  • Preparing disbursement schedules for forwarding to Finance department;
  • Compiling returns on funds disbursed;
  • Mobilization of beneficiaries in the CT-PWSD programme for payment;
  • Advising and guiding PWDs (in groups or as individuals, online and in person) about the job placement application process including, CVs, application forms, assessment centers, interviews and selection tests;
  • Advising PWDs on their applications and on the requirements in undertaking a placement
  • Providing information and support to Planning Unit for Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Preparing regular progress reports to the Supervisor
  • Any other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements for Disability Officer Jobs in Kenya

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Community Development or Social Work or Sociology from a recognized institution; OR
  • Any Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and a diploma in community development or social work or Sociology any other relevant diploma from a recognized Institution;
  • Two (2) years work experience in a relevant field;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer application skills;

Terms of service:
Permanent & Pensionable
Basic Salary Ksh. 41,590 x 2,070 – 43,660 x 2,220 – 45,880 x 2,310 – 48,190 x 2,400 -50,590 x 2,550 – 53,140 x 2,700 – 55,840 p.m
House Allowance- 13,000 /= p.m
Commuter Allowance – 8,000 /= p.m
