Funded through USAID Kenya and implemented through FHI360, the goal of USAID Kenya Nutrition and Health Program plus is to improve nutrition status of Kenyan through improving Access and Demand for Quality Nutrition Interventions at Community and Facility Levels, strengthening Nutrition Commodity Management and improving Food and Nutrition Security.
USAID Kenya Nutrition and Health Program plus maintains a central database of monthly data service and commodity prescription from over 930 participating sites and commodity delivery details from the SCM partner. The data reports include enrollment and follow up patient details, monthly consumption reports and commodity delivery details. The central database is maintained on a MySQL database platform, with VB.NET as its main user interface, which also supports partial data analysis and validation. To assist in data management and site follow up, USAID Kenya Nutrition and Health Program plus is recruiting Data Assistants on performance based contract.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
The Data Assistant will work under the supervision of the Logistics Manager and will be responsible for receiving, reconciliation and entry of commodity data in addition to any other roles assigned by theLogistics Manager or ME&R Manager. The key roles include:
Assist in documentation of data reports received from participating sites.
Reconciliation of information from paper forms to Information System, with a minimum 350 entries/day.
Identify incomplete key indicators from the data forms.
Confirm any discrepancies with the health facilities.
Perform data cleaning of entered records using in-house system or MySQL.
Assist in generation and dispatch of site reports.
Any other duties as may be assigned by ME&R Manager or Logistics Manager.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The Data Assistant will be expected to:
- Demonstrate previous experience and knowledge of relational database systems.
- Be able to work with minimal supervision and professionalism.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Provide weekly progress reports of completed duties and tasks assigned.
- Be able to meet assigned daily data entry quotas.
- Observe and adhere to FHI 360 code of ethics.
MINIMUM RERUITMENT STANDARDS:
- Diploma in IT, Computer Science or any other relevant field.
- Minimum 3 yearsâ€™ practical experience in data entry/data management in a busy environment.
- Experience working with health related data will be an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of Windows environment and applications.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
