This role reports to the Financial Controller Context/Scope: Africa Business Services Centre (ABSC) Nairobi is a multi-functional shared service Centre that will handle DIAGEO-wide transactions across Africa regions.
The markets under scope are Mozambique, Angola, Reunion and DSAM. Market Complexity: Different language requirements for the different marketsDifferent tax regimes & legislation by market Top Accountabilities:
To ensure the tax packs for tax computations prepared accurately and submitted on time
To ensure the accounting packs for Magnitude tax provisions prepared accurately and submitted on time
To participate in Revenue Audits, responsible for answering revenue authorities’ queries
To ensure that queries are answered comprehensively and in a timely fashion
To prepare the indirect tax returns assigned accurately and on time, in line with legal requirements
To submit indirect tax returns to the appropriate authorities (e.g. VAT, Excise and Customs duty and other statutory reporting) without incurring penalties on behalf of the Group.
Supports projects with impacts on statutory and tax reporting area.
Coordinates actions to mitigate tax risks and to take advantage of opportunities, liaising with the relevant market leaders and their teams.
Ensure compliance on withholding taxes on all transactions.; Ensure compliance on Payroll Taxes by ensuring timely payment and timely filing of returns Advise on applicable Withholding Taxes where necessary ; Ensure timely payment of withholding taxes and timely filing of returns.
To ensure that quarterly reports and annual statutory accounts are reconciling to the Tax Packs/ Accounting Packs provided to Group Tax and Deloitte; To ensure that Tax figures are included in the quarterly reports and statutory accounts and are correct and presented correctly; To ensure that intercompany reporting related to the statutory financial statements in relation to taxes are completed accurately and on time and that the surrounding internal control procedures are strictly adhered to; To support the statutory financial statement preparation in relation to corporate taxes; The jobholder may be instructed by his/her immediate superior to perform all tasks directly or indirectly related, additional or supplementary to the scope of duties defined in this role profile. Qualification & Experience:
Qualified professional accountant (CPA, ACCA, CA or any equivalent) with minimum 2-3 years of experience in Taxation; Experience of working within international/multicultural environment; Experience in IFRS and other local GAAPs; Excellent communication skills able to build strong relationships with operational staff (written & verbal)Advantage:
External or Internal Audit background; Language skills: Good business English, able to communicate effectively; Other languages (Portuguese, French) within geographical area is a bonus PC skills/System knowledge:
Relevant experience with SAP
Strong Excel knowledge
