Health in Africa Job Vacancy in Kenya : Investment Analyst


An exciting opportunity to join a leading Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) healthcare focused Private Equity (PE) fund and be part of a dynamic, committed and highly professional team.

The Investment Funds for Health in Africa (IFHA) is looking for an Investment Analyst to be based out of IFHA office in Nairobi, Kenya.

IFHA is one of the leading healthcare focused PE funds in SSA. Established in 2008, IFHA consists of two private equity funds (IFHA I and IFHA II) with an aggregate fund size of USD 155m (and set to grow to USD 220m). IFHA is dedicated to investing in SMEs in the healthcare sector (one of the fastest growing sectors in SSA) and will focus on various subsectors including healthcare provision, health insurance, health management organizations, administration providers, purchasing companies, medical asset financing, pharmaceutical production and distribution and medical education. After seven years of operations, the fund manager builds on its strong network and a solid track record of results from its first round investees, which include four successful exits.

The IFHA team consists of professionals with a diverse range of experience in senior management, healthcare and investing. IFHA is looking for highly motivated and determined candidates with excellent qualitative, quantitative and interpersonal skills to join the team as an Investment Analyst. The Investment Analyst will have an active and varied role in the investment process and will work in close collaboration with Managing Director, CFO and Investment Manager.

The Investment Analyst will examine countries, markets and companies.

– At country level: country studies, analysis of exchange-rate risks, underpinning investment proposals.
-At market level: analysis of healthcare markets and value chains.
-At company level: analysis of new businesses, portfolio companies, competitors and benchmarking.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in private equity, investment banking, or financial consulting.
Second or third career move
Masters’ degree in Finance/Economics/MBA/Professional qualification (CA,CFA)
Skilled in financial modelling, analysis of financial statements (P/L, cashflow and balance sheet), market research, macro-economic analysis, written and power point presentations
Versatile personality with broad interests
Entrepreneur, hands-on mentality
Knowledge and experience in an international environment is preferred
