Hillcrest International Schools comprises of three schools; Hillcrest Early Years, Hillcrest Preparatory and Hillcrest Secondary / Senior School.
We admit students from 18 months to 18 years. We are an international British Curriculum based learning institution located in Karen Nairobi and have a very conducive environment for learning and working.
Hillcrest Preparatory School is seeking to recruit a Head of Learning Support to teach and oversee the department.
The successful candidate will be expected to start teaching in January, 2015 and the requirements are as listed below:

Job Description: The post holder is responsible to the Prep Headteacher for executing his/her teaching duties.
The incumbent will undertake the teaching of learning support at Hillcrest Preparatory School and to promote genuine interest, enthusiasm and to aim for a high standard of achievement for all pupils within the school.
Responsibilities associated with the post include:
• To liaise with the Head of HEY, Deputy Head Academic in the Prep School as well as all members of the teaching staff in order to be aware of all children experiencing difficulties accessing the school curriculum
• Keep abreast and familiarize yourself with the current thinking and developments in your field
• To plan, organize and allocate staff for individual children and oversee the correct documentation and provision for these children
• To monitor departmental successes and weaknesses
• To monitor, moderate and record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils as required
• To provide advice and assistance to members of staff in the educational requirements of children with learning difficulties
Key Tasks Associated with the post
This may include being required to:
• To teach and oversee the department as agreed with the Headteacher throughout the whole school
• Contact and meet with other heads of departments in the other independent schools and IAPS schools
• To undertake any other administrative duties in respect of your employment as required by the Headteacher
• To carry out supervision of pupils at the request and discretion of the Headteacher
• To participate in meetings with parents and colleagues at school which relate to the administration, organization and curriculum of the school with regard to Learning Support
• To maintain good order and discipline among pupils and safe guard their health and safety both on school premises and when engaged in school activities elsewhere
• To be responsible for display work for their subject where applicable
The successful candidate will be expected to start teaching in January, 2015 and the requirements are as listed below:
• Hold a B.Ed/PGCE/PGDE and/or Special Education Needs qualifications
• Minimum of 4 years teaching experience in an international school
• Have a good proven track record in raising attainment and accelerating progress
• Be an excellent teacher with consistently good or outstanding classroom practice
• Have high expectations of themselves and others
• Be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
• Have excellent subject knowledge
• Encourage investigative and practical work to drive learning.
• Be flexible and a good team player
