House Keeping Supervisor Job  Purpose

  • Housekeeping Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision and control of all guest rooms, restaurants, function and public rooms in the hotel. Their job duties are critical in the effective supervision of the hotel, as cleanliness is of the highest priority in the hospitality industry. The effective management of subordinate housekeeping employees will be paramount to the success of this position. Leadership, problem-solving, and decisiveness are critical for success in this role.
  •  The Housekeeping Supervisor responsibilities may also include staff training, development and scheduling. The Housekeeping Supervisor will promote an atmosphere that ensures guest and employee satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Executive Housekeeper and requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively deal with guests, other departments and team members

House Keeping Supervisor Job Responsibilities:

  • To conduct shift wise briefings and assign daily duties to all housekeeping personnel
  •  To prepare worksheets for the room stewards at the start of their shifts
  •  To prepare cleaning schedules for various areas of the hotel
  •  Spot-check and inspect rooms completed by the room attendants in the section. Make sure that standards have properly met in rooms
  •  To maintain the daily log book and other records, follow up on occupancy reports, Expected Arrivals and Departures and coordinate clearance of rooms to the Front Office Department
  •  To check all par stocks of linen on floors and ensure timely delivery of linen from the linen room to the floors
  •  To maintain floor pantries and trolleys in a clean and orderly manner
  •  To immediately record lost & found items and ensure adherence to lost and found procedures of the hotel
  •  To liaise with the engineering department for day to day maintenance work, to follow up and ensure completion of the same
  •  To requisition for and maintain stocks of all cleaning chemicals and cleaning supplies
  •  Assist room attendants and public area staff in securing all supplies and tools necessary for the completion of their jobs as the need arises
  •  Ensure that the Room attendants have sufficient supplies for the day’s work. Ensure replenishment of consumable items in rooms as per the set standards
  •  To supervise pest control operations and any other contracted housekeeping work
  •  To take the room status report physically at the scheduled time (10am, and 7pm)
  •  Prepare room status reports and keep the Asst Executive Housekeeper informed of rooms with DND signs and any required maintenance work
  •  Ensure that all keys / Cards are returned back to the housekeeping office and signed for after the shift
  •  To ensure upkeep and proper handling of all Housekeeping equipment
  •  To handle guest queries and complaints in a polite and courteous manner
  •  Provide a proactive environment of by monitoring guest request’s by entering them into the guest history
  •  Prepare duty rosters and ensure all shift are manned in relation to amount of work
  • Carry out grooming audit during staff briefing with an aim of ensuring that all staff in the department comply to grooming standards
  • Obtain maintenance reports from the Room Stewards, follow up with engineering on urgent repairs and ensure all R&M issues are recorded on PMS
  •  Inspect the public areas and back of house especially when you are the afternoon duty housekeeper
  •  Sign the room attendants log book on the successful; completion of duties
  •  To assist in the training of new staff as well as existing staff
  •  To record movement of any items in the rooms e.g. loss of linen, TV/Mini Bar Movement
  • Ensure turndown service is carried out between 5pm – 9pm and inspect rooms to identify adherence of standards
  •  To participate in any training/development schemes required by management.
  •  Participate in the hotel’s social responsibility programme
  •  To follow the house rules and policies laid down by the management
  •  To comply with company regulations as stipulated in staff handbook, regarding uniform, timekeeping and general conduct
  •  To comply with any statutory and legal requirement for fire, licensing, health and safety and to ensure that you are working in accordance with these
  • Suggested Salary : Based on Experience

Qualifications For House Keeping Supervisor Job

  •  Certificate in housekeeping operations and management
  •  Diploma in hotel management will be an added advantage

Skills Required:

  •  Must have prior experience in hotel housekeeping
  •  Prior leadership experience required
  •  Must have knowledge of all housekeeping standards
  •  Work Scheduling experience required
  •  Must possess excellent communication skills
  •  Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule
  •  Ability to provide clear direction, instruction and guidance to subordinates
  •  Ability to organize and prioritized work, and meet deadlines
  •  Ability to exercise judgment and implement control over the performance of subordinates
  •  Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
