Job Purpose: The role holder will be responsible for acquisition of new business, aggressively approaching potential customers with the aim of winning new business and also cross-selling to existing customers.
 
Roles and Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities are:
  • Identifying new sales leads
  • Pitching products and/or services
  • Maintaining fruitful relationships with existing customers
  • Overseeing the development of marketing literature
Key tasks
  • Researching organisations and individuals online (especially on social media) to identify new leads and potential new markets
  • Researching the needs of other companies and learning who makes decisions about purchasing
  • Contacting potential clients via email or phone to establish rapport
  • Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives
  • Attending conferences, meetings, and cooperative events
  • Pitching for business and sales displays
  • Contacting clients to inform them about new developments and offers in the co-operative
  • Developing quotes and proposals
  • Negotiating and renegotiating by phone, email, and in person
  • Developing sales goals for the team and ensuring they are met
  • Training personnel and helping team members develop their skills
  • Write reports and provide feedback to the management on the progress of the cooperative
  • Client relationship building
Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a sales role.
  • A degree in Sales and Marketing (Finance, Economics, Business Management) from a reputable university or any other relevant degree in Business.
  • Those working with Sacco’s have an added advantage
  • A diploma in cooperative management is an added advantage
  • A minimum score of Second Class Honours – Upper Division
  • A score of B+ and above in K.C.S.E
  • Socially adept
  • Good with numbers
  • Able to provide quality leadership to a large team of sales people
  • Strong communication and IT fluency
  • Creative talents and the ability to solve tough problems
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry and its current events
  • The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
  • Skill in prioritizing and triaging obligations
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organisation
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced organization
