Save the Children has been operational in Kenya since the 1950s, providing support to children through developmental and humanitarian relief programmes delivered both directly and through local partners.
Current programming focuses on child protection, child rights governance, education, health, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods, nutrition and WASH.
In 2012, as part of a global reorganization process, Save the Children combined the programmes of SC UK, SC Canada and SC Finland to create a single operation in Kenya.
In Feb 2014, we completed a second transition, which saw us join forces with the British INGO, Merlin, and merge their health and nutrition programmes with our own.

Save the Children now has an operational presence in Bungoma, Dadaab Refugee Camp, Garissa, Mandera, Turkana and Wajir and we work through partners in many other parts of the country.
We employ nearly 300 staff and will have an operating annual budget in 2016 of approximately US$20 million.
Save the Children seeks the following job applications in anticipation of a forthcoming USAID-funded reproductive, maternal, newborn, adolescent and child health (RMNCAH) cooperative agreement which focuses on supporting the Government of Kenya to end the preventable deaths of mothers and their children.
All posts are contingent on the issuance of USAID funding and the selection of applicants is subject to USAID approval.
 
Chief of Party
The Chief of Party will be the principal representative of the project.
S/he will work with Save the Children’s existing country office in Kenya, but will have leadership responsibility for the overall management of the USAID award.
S/he will provide strategic and operational leadership to develop and implement a successful and integrated multi-sectoral program that builds upon existing USAID and Government of Kenya investments and that will achieve lasting outcomes.
The COP will ensure adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in implementation, compliance with USAID rules and regulations, and the timely submission of all deliverables to USAID, including annual work plans, performance monitoring plans, semi-annual reports and annual reports as required.
The COP will be responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the activities of any subrecipient partners under this cooperative agreement.
 
Finance and Operations Director RMNCAH
The Finance and Operations Director will be responsible for ensuring the project’s implementation modalities are compliant with USAID regulations, while also meeting program needs and technical requirements of the RFA/P.
This will require the FOD to work in close cooperation with the technical positions and project team to operationalize the project activities particularly in the first year of the project.
 
Technical Director RMNCAH
The Technical Director will be responsible for leading and overseeing the development and delivery of a high quality, innovative, cost effective and sustainable RMNCAH programme resulting in immediate and lasting change for children.
He/She will be responsible for provide technical leadership to the programme, documentation and dissemination of innovation and good practices and establishing, maintaining and expanding CSO and partner relations for the sector.
The Technical Director will be based in Nairobi but with frequent (approx. 50% travel) to the field.
 
Maternal & Newborn Health (MNH) Advisor
The MNH Advisor will provide technical oversight and direction in the area of MNH as an integral part of the RMNCAH technical team.
He/She will support to the programme to ensure the delivery of community and facility level, high quality integrated maternal and newborn health interventions and ensure that project activities are aligned to the relevant national and county MNH policies, strategies and plans.
He/She will provide leadership and technical guidance in the development, implementation and evaluation of MNH activities.
Under the leadership of the Technical Director (TD), the MNH Advisor will work to ensure the technical and methodological soundness of activities and, in collaboration with the project team, the MOH and partners, support the design of service delivery strategies, based on sound, current scientific evidence.
Monitoring, Evaluation , Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Advisor
The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Advisor is responsible for obtaining, analyzing, reviewing and interpreting project data.
S/he will work with the programme teams in developing, strengthening and implementing monitoring systems to track project progress and impact.
S/he will monitor and assess project implementation progress as required and provide feedback to colleagues and partners to improve project activities.
S/he will design and lead the implementation of the project’s M&E strategies, requirements and country level activities.
In addition, the Advisor will work directly with the technical staff and will manage the M&E staff to develop appropriate indicators and select the monitoring and measurement tools for project implementation and rollout
