The Officer will report to the Assistant Director Ecosystem Assessment.

Job Descriptions

  1. Developing Water Towers Status reports;
  2. Developing guidelines and standards for assessing, monitoring and evaluating conservation and management activities in the Water Tower;
  3. Carrying out resource assessments to generate baseline data and information on water towers, critical water catchment areas and biodiversity hotspots;

Ecosystem Research Officer Job Responsibilities

  • Generating data on climate change impacts, mitigation and adaptation measures in the Water towers;
  • Carrying out economic valuation of the water tower status
  • Monitoring climate change in the Water Towers (mitigation and adaption);
  • Developing stakeholders inventory in the Water Towers;
  • Generating information on critical water catchment areas and biodiversity hotspots;
  • Contributing in preparation of the Directorates quarterly/annual reports;
  • Contributing in development of the Directorate’s budgets and reports.

Qualifications for the Ecosystem Research Officer Job

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields:-Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Environmental Planning, Environmental Economics, Environmental Science or any other relevant field (A
  • Master’s degree in these fields will be an added advantage)
  • Have four years (4) of relevant work experience
  • Have demonstrated professional competence, leadership qualities as well as good understanding of Natural Resources sector;
  • Demonstrate good understanding in the field and secondary data collection;
  • Strong practical and theoretical knowledge on GIS and Remote Sensing data analysis;
  • Demonstrate communication and leadership skills
  • Have relevant computer applications skills
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity
