Group Information Technology: Systems development, business analysis, architecture, project management, data warehousing, infrastructure, maintenance and production.

Job Purpose

  • Manage the projects’ resourcing demand and supply.
    • Direct, Control, Organise, Plan and Staff initiatives in line with the bank’s strategic plans.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Responsibilities within stages of the project lifecycle include:

Start-up Phase – (Portfolio oversight and project delivery)
§ Receive the appointment of the Executive and Project Manager (self)
§ Capture previous lessons
§ Design and appoint Project Management Team
§ Coordinate the preparation of the outline business case
§ Select the Project Approach and Assemble the project Brief
§ Plan the Initiation Stage
§ Submit the signed-off start-up management products for ChangeCo approval for the Initiation stage

Expected deliverables: Project mandate, Executive role description, Project manager role description, Project Team role descriptions, Project management team structure, Project brief, Outline business case, Project product description, Project approach, Initiation Stage plan, maintain requisite records (i.e. lessons log and daily log) and ChangeCo approval for the Initiation stage plan and project brief

Project Initiation – (Portfolio oversight and project delivery)
§ Develop the Risk management strategy
§ Develop the Configuration management strategy
§ Develop the Quality management strategy (includes testing)
§ Set-up / define project controls
§ Develop the Communication management strategy
§ Develop the Project plan (*.mpp)
§ Develop / update Stage plans (current and next)
§ Develop the product descriptions
§ Assemble the Project Initiation Document (PID)
§ Obtain/refine the Business case
§ Obtain the Benefits Review Plan
§ Submit the signed-off Initiation management products for ChangeCo approval for the Implementation stage (Authorise the project)
Expected deliverables: PID, Benefits Review Plan, Lessons Log, Updated Business case, End stage report, Implementation stage plan and ChangeCo approval for the Implementation stage i.e. PID and Benefits Review Plan

Project Implementation – (Portfolio oversight and project delivery)
• Develop / prepare work packages
• Authorise work packages
• Monitor and control the delivery of work package products
• Review stage status
• Develop and update the configurations item records
• Develop checkpoint reports
• Develop highlight reports
• Develop lessons report
• Develop end stage report
• Develop product status account
• Capture, examine and escalate issues and risks

. Create Issue report
. Update Issue register
. Update Risk register
• Take corrective action
. Update Issue register
. Update Risk register
. Update Issue report
. Update Stage plan
. Update Configuration Item Records

Project closure – (Portfolio oversight and project delivery
• Develop / prepare work packages
• Authorise work packages
• Monitor and control the delivery of work package products
• Review stage status
• Develop and update the configurations item records
• Develop checkpoint reports
• Develop highlight reports
• Develop End project report (incl. Lessons report and follow-on recommendations report)
• Develop product status account
• Capture, examine and escalate issues and risks
. Update/Close Daily log
. Create Issue report
. Update Issue register
. Update Risk register
• Take corrective action

Expected deliverables: Updated PID (includes business case), Updated Benefits Review Plan, Updated Lessons Log, End project report (includes Lessons report and Follow-on recommendations) and ChangeCo approval for End project report, Final Benefits Review Plan

Other non-project lifecycle responsibilities

Control
• Compliance to all bank policy & regulation e.g. Bank Values, HC policy i.e. staff etiquette, PMO policy i.e. project / WR governance, IT policy i.e. change governance etc

Resource Management
• Manage the supply and demand of PMO resourcing needs for the different portfolios initiatives i.e. Project Support Officers, Project Managers, Business Analysts and Quality Analysts Expected deliverables: Maintain annual Portfolio resource plan that is updated monthly.

Preferred Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in IT or Business Management
    • Recognised project management certifications preferably PRINCE2 practitioner
    • 5  years’ experience in a similar role or equivalent.
    • Extensive experience in management of complex / large portfolio of projects, ideally within the financial service sector
    • Practical experience in IT and business project management
    • Practical leadership or management of teams experience

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

  • Computer literate in MS Office Suite, MS Projects and MS Visio
    • Expert understanding of PRINCE2 Methodology
    • Must have an in-depth knowledge of banking processes and systems
    • General understanding of nature, culture, operations and tactical priorities of project management office
    • Broad knowledge of bank strategies and tactical plans
    • A sound business/industry understanding of financial services.
    • Finance and Accounting knowledge.
