  1. IFRC Innovation Intern, Nairobi

Specifically, the intern will carry out the following tasks

  1. Work with youth clubs and volunteers action teams in Somali Red Crescent Society to identify innovations which can have high impact in local communities.
  2. Work closely with the Global Innovation Team in Geneva to promote local innovations identified in Somali Red Crescent and also support fundraising efforts.
  3. Develop communication content on innovation projects identified and which need to be supported in Somali Red Crescent Society.
  4. Develop strong linkages with Innovation networks in Africa especially Kenya and Somalia.
  5. Preparation of relevant meetings, note taking and report writing.

The role will need to work closely with the Global Innovation Team as well as relevant personnel in the Somali Red Crescent Society.

  1. IFRC Research, Evidence and Analytics Intern

Specifically, the intern will carry out the following tasks: 1. Contribute to IFRC efforts to build research, evidence and Analytics capacities within the Somalia Country office. 2. Work closely with relevant staff in Somali Red Crescent Society to identify issues which need to be researched and prioritise them. 3. Work closely with the Research, Evidence and Analytics Lead in Geneva to conduct a case study or background research on one of the identified issues and demonstrate usefulness of its findings. 4. Develop communication content on research projects identified and which need to be supported in Somali Red Crescent Society. 5. Develop strong linkages with research networks in Africa especially Kenya and Somalia. 6. Preparation of relevant meetings, note taking and report writing. The role will need to work closely with the Research, Evidence and Analytics lead as well as relevant personnel in the Somali Red Crescent Society.

Education

Relevant University post-graduate degree level qualification with research methods included.

Experience

  1. A good understanding about operational research
  2. Experience of working with different software packages
  3. Ability to carry out desk top reviews
  4. Ability to work in a team
