Purpose Of The Position

Offer support in receipt, storage, dispatch of commodities and ensure that warehouse is well maintained and meets safety and health standards. Count all commodities during loading and offloading of trucks at the warehouse.

Major Responsibilities

Warehouse Commodity Management

  • Check trucks on arrival at the warehouse and count commodities. If any shortages, damages or excess promptly report to the Warehouse keeper to document the differences.
  • Support in truck inspection and prepare the respective report
  • Train laborers on how to stack commodities neatly in the warehouse. Ensuring that a meter is always observed between different stacks.
  • Assist Warehouse Keeper to ensure torn bags / leaking tins / cans are segregated and reconstituted / repacked immediately.
  • Count the commodities when trucks are being loaded or offloaded.
  • Assist Warehouse Keeper to ensure no commodities enter or leave the warehouse without a delivery note / waybills and ensuring that it is properly signed.
  • Ensure that trucks are covered with tarpaulins after loading.
  • Ensure laborers and other visitors do not smoke inside the warehouse.
  • Ensure at all times commodities are stored on pallets / tonnage.
  • Support in maintaining conducive environment in the warehouse i.e. organized, clean and neat
  • Ensure laborers do not mishandle, throw bags, pails, and tins while loading or unloading.

Documentation and Accounting

  • Maintain daily attendance book for the casual workers (laborers) and advise the warehouse keeper in case of any change of names.
  • Ensure tally sheets are prepared during receipt or dispatch of commodities.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Post-Secondary Certificate in a relevant field
  • Have one year experience in warehousing management and inventory control
  • Ability to organize issues related to transport and transporters.

Project Officer – Emergency WASH

Purpose Of The Position

Ensure successful implementation of Water Supply Systems, Sanitation and Hygiene contributing to child wellbeing outcomes under the drought emergency WASH project at the designated county. S/he will ensure integration with sponsorship management interventions.

Effective Project Design, Planning and Implementation

  • Facilitate timely and quality implementation of Water, sanitation and Hygiene projects within the target county as per the project plan
  • Ensure that business processes, standards and guidelines related to WASH and Construction initiatives are effectively applied in project implementation.
  • Provide overall construction site management in strict adherence to the approved designs.
  • In collaboration with line government ministries, local administration and community management structures supervise contractors during implementation to ensure quality workmanship, safety and value for money is achieved within schedule.
  • Facilitate Site-possession, handing over and commissioning of projects
  • Carry out Technical Design of WASH and Construction projects as need arises
  • Preparation of the tender documents (Technical Specifications, Drawings, and Bills of Quantities and Terms of Reference.
  • Participate in the ADP tender committee to offer technical advice as may be required.
  • Facilitates Topographical Surveys, Environmental Impact Assessment, Hydrogeological surveys and GIS activities
  • Maintain an updated Site Book for all construction works
  • Facilitate communities to identify viable WASH and construction projects and negotiate for way leaves and easement and ensure their participation in the implementation of the same
  • Ensure cross cutting themes are integrated into the WASH project
  • Participate in Child Sponsorship Management

Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation

  • Supervise and Monitor WASH and Construction interventions in strict adherence to WV Kenya, Kenya government regulations, WHO and the SPHERE standards.
  • Development of the project operation Plans. (4D matrix, DIP& Budget).
  • Facilitate WASH project surveys (Assessments & Baselines) and evaluations for the project.
  • Develop quality project reports in accordance with donors and WV Kenya requirements.
  • Ensure budgetary utilization is within acceptable limits/range.
  • Ensure participatory monthly data collection are conducted (involving communities and partners) using the standardized tools

Advocacy, Engagement, Networking & Partnerships

  • Establish and sustain working relationships with Government Departments and Agencies relevant to the Program’s focus area at the Ward, Sub County and County levels
  • Work with partners and coalitions to engage in advocacy activities with the government structures at the County level, to address the needs of local communities and inform national level advocacy initiatives
  • Support communities groups, youth and children to engage constructively with duty bearers and service providers to improve access to, and quality of essential services

Enhanced Empowerment & Capacity building

  • Capacity Building of CBOs and Water Users Committees to be able to effectively manage WASH facilities in a sustainable way.
  • Support preparation and conducting hygiene and sanitation promotion training sessions.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or related field
  • Minimum two years proven experience in working/programmingin either relief or development including managing a large scale Community based water project with evidence of successful implementation of similar projects
    • Good understanding of SPHERE and other international standards.
    • Computer literate (MS Office, SPSS).
    • Ability to conduct community WASH needs assessment, program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of WASH activities
    • Knowledge and application of auto/arch CAD and GIS will be an advantage.
    • Proposal/concept paper writing skills will be an added advantage

Driver BSFP

Purpose Of The Position

To ensure smooth facilitation of staff within the department/Program, management of fleet by ensuring World Vision Kenya fleet is safe, healthy and economical to guarantee staff facilitation.

Major Responsibilities

Staff Facilitation

  • Timely facilitation of staff to and from work and to other official duties.
  • Ensure safety of staff and vehicle while on journey
  • Ensure mobilization of additional vehicles and drivers to facilitate key events such as major donor visits, campaigns, evaluations and baselines
  • Ensure facilitation of Staff / Visitors / Donors/ to the field.

Administration Support

  • Facilitate delivery of parcels/ mails
  • In collaboration with Administration department liaise with service providers to ensure quality services
  • Work with respective staff to plan and coordinate field facilitation services.
  • Support in community mobilization
  • Be bank agent for bank transactions

Vehicle Care and Maintenance

  • Ensure vehicle cleanliness all the time.
  • Keep vehicle movement log book up to date.
  • Check mechanical and operational soundness of the vehicle.
  • To ensure that the vehicle is serviced at the required time.
  • To check and ensure that all vehicle tools are in place and intact.
  • Undertake minor repairs and recommend for major vehicle repairs.
  • Park the vehicle at the recommended parking areas by WVK
  • Seek for permission to use the car as per the laid down policy and procedures.
  • Obey traffic laws
  • Maintain maximum care of the vehicle at all times.
  • Submit all the vehicle spare keys to the Fleet management for safe custody.
  • Surrender vehicle keys to the respective admins every end of trip
  • Report all vehicle malfunctions to the fleet office.
  • Initiate procurement process for all motor vehicle repairs and maintenance.

Vehicle reports

  • Prepare monthly and other vehicle reports and file copies of the same after approval.
  • Forward all invoices and fuel returns to fleet management for payment process.
  • In case of accident, forward detailed report for claim processing.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Qualification – a form four with a clean driving license with AA certificate coupled with at least three years’ experience in a similar job.
  • Basic knowledge of Computer applications (Microsoft windows, word , excel and internet)
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of first Aid and other safety and security measure.
  • Knowledge of transport regulatory acts/Law

Working Environment

  • Work environment: mobile role with frequent domestic travel
  • On call: during emergencies and crisis and as required
