Project Officer – Girl Child Education and Protection Job at World Vision

Project Officer Job Purpose

  • To ensure the successful implementation of a Girls’ education and protection project aimed at improving the wellbeing of children and more specifically enhancing access to quality education and protection of girls from the Sook area.

Project Officer Job Key Responsibilities

Project Implementation

  • Ensure proper planning and implementation of the interventions for the girl child education project in the AP
  • Provide technical guidance in enhancement of literacy skills for the targeted girls including development of locally made reading materials
  • Ensure sensitization programmes for BoMs, Parents and community members
  • Link up with WASH team for timely construction of comprehensive rescue centers for girls
  • Spearhead rescue programmes for girls subjected to FGM, early marriages and other forms of abuse
  • Ensure gender responsiveness in all interventions including anti FGM campaigns Alternative Rights Passage.
  • Ensure sanitary towels procurement and distribution in line with the organizational guidelines
  • Coordinate women groups and reformed female circumcisers for IGAs ,VSG and other economic empowerment initiatives
  • Ensure equity in education by focusing on the Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) and particular girls
  • Facilitate mentorship and peer programme for the rescued girls

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Work with the DME team to facilitate baselines and evaluation exercise and reports for the project
  • Develop quality project reports for submission to the donor
  • Ensure alignment with all the DME standards
  • Guide the community leaders and other education partners in joint monitoring education progress on termly basis
  • Analyze, share and appropriately utilize the education information gathered through the project activities
  • Facilitate regular reflection meetings to ensure action on all issues from the monitoring reports.
  • Develop quality education reports (Annual, Semi-annul and Monthly Management Reports) in line with WV and donors reporting guidelines.
  • Identify best practices for sharing and documentation
  • Facilitate the community to identify and respond to quality education needs particularly for the girls

Engagement & Networking

  • Lead in timely mobilization and effective communication with communities and other education stakeholders during baselines , evaluations and other relevant programming activities
  • Engage relevant community leaders and education partners in planning the education monitoring activities
  • Ensure effective representation of WVK in girls education forums within the sub-county
  • Participate in National/International education days at the county and sub-county level
  • Update the relevant WVK staff with relevant data and information for fund raising initiatives for girls education
  • Coordinate capacity building for CVA ,BOMs, FBOs, CBOs, AAC and other functional structures for promoting sustainable quality education and protection interventions
  • Organize exchange visit for rescued girls to learn from other girls’ mentorship programmes

Qualifications for Project Officer Job

Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social studies or relevant field
  • A minimum of 2 years working experience in education or community programmes
  • Experience in Advocacy, Child Rights and/or Community Development with strong partnership with GoK ministries, Churches and other partners
